Abstract: The atypical skin lesions are a diverse group of tumors that are uncommon but clinically important. They include a spectrum from benign lesions through to those that demonstrate local invasion and/or distant metastatic potential. Since these lesions are only seen infrequently during clinical practice, it is important to have a solid grounding in the general principles of their management. The chapter also covers some common surgically relevant lesions of the skin, including common types of cysts. A clear understanding of cysts and their etiology is important to direct their management. The chapter divides the atypical lesions into benign or malignant and then by their cell/tissue of origin to provide a framework for their study. Such a framework is not perfect due to our evolving understanding of the molecular and cellular bases of these tumors, but it provides a foundation for their study.

Optimising Patient Outcomes in Tongue Cancer: A Multidisciplinary Approach

The initiative outlined in this paper emphasises the importance of a collaborative strategy in managing tongue cancer, involving a broad spectrum of healthcare professionals. This multidisciplinary method integrates the expertise of nurses, allied health workers, and various medical specialists to enhance diagnosis, treatment, and recovery processes for patients. By developing and examining a series of online lectures, this study highlights the critical roles played by each discipline in the comprehensive care pathway, from prevention and early detection to the management of advanced stages of the disease. This approach aims not only to address the clinical aspects of tongue cancer but also to support the overall well-being of patients, showcasing the benefits of teamwork in healthcare settings for improving patient outcomes.
